

There are gemstones that also have a lovely story. Is the case of The Lesotho Promise diamond, once carved into a collection of 26 pieces, gave birth to fabulous necklace you see in the main photo.
The gem in the rough before being cut by laser, is holding the model of its front (photo below), of extraordinary size. So unusual that is ranked No. 15 of the largest ever found.
He was found in 2006 in the Letseng mine in Lesotho in South Africa. No less than 603 carats, D color white (the most quoted) and purity flawless (internally flawless as the highest quality).
The Lesotho Promise was auctioned in October 2006 in Antwerp and was purchased by Laurence Graff, the London jeweler considered in the exclusive world of the diamond at the same level as De Beers, Van Cleef & Arpels.
The purchase price was 12.36 million. In Graff, the diamond was studied by experts during three months prior to the cutting and polishing which took 35 experts. Fourteen months later, he obtained 26 diamonds of various sizes, with a resulting weight of 223, 35 carats.
Once crimped pieces in platinum, The Lesotho Promise Necklace Collection has a value of $ 50 million.
The four main parts are: the diamond of 43.12 carats heart size, the next highest, size 19.42 carat emerald, the brilliant-cut diamond of 27.03 carats and, last and largest piece, the size 76.41 carat pear.
